Everything you need to know before booking your first private jet charter. From how to request a quote to what to expect on the day of travel.
Your First Private Jet Charter: A Complete Guide
If you are considering private aviation for the first time, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know, from requesting a quote to arriving at your destination.
Step 1: Define Your Trip
Before contacting a charter broker, have the following information ready:
- Departure airport or city
- Destination airport or city
- Travel date (and return date if round trip)
- Number of passengers
- Any special requirements (pets, oversized luggage, catering preferences)
The more specific you can be, the faster Tim can source the right aircraft.
Step 2: Request a Quote
Contact Axon Jets by phone, text, or the online quote form. Your advisor will respond within 2 hours with 2 to 3 aircraft options, each with full pricing and specifications.
Do not be surprised if the options vary significantly in price. Your advisor will explain the differences and help you select the right aircraft for your specific needs.
Step 3: Review the Quote
A complete charter quote should include:
- Aircraft type and tail number (or category)
- Operator name and safety rating
- Total charter cost (itemized)
- Handling fees
- Federal Excise Tax
- Cancellation policy
If any of these items are missing from a quote you receive from any broker, ask for them. Transparency is a baseline requirement.
Step 4: Confirm the Booking
Once you select an aircraft, Your advisor will send a charter agreement for your review and signature. The agreement will include the flight details, pricing, cancellation policy, and payment terms.
Payment is typically due 24 to 72 hours before departure, depending on the operator.
Step 5: Day of Travel
Arrive at the FBO 15 minutes before your scheduled departure. The FBO staff will direct you to the aircraft. There is no security screening, no boarding pass, and no gate.
Your luggage is loaded directly from the ramp. You board when you are ready.
What to Expect Onboard
Private jet cabins vary by aircraft category, but all provide:
- Leather seating
- Climate control
- In-flight entertainment (on most aircraft)
- Wi-Fi (on most modern aircraft)
- Catering (arranged in advance through the FBO)
After the Flight
Tim follows up after every flight to confirm everything went smoothly. If there were any issues, he addresses them directly with the operator.
